About TEC

As stated on the homepage,

T.E.C. is "Teens Encounter Christ," a non-denominational, Christ centered, relationally styled experience in a Christian community for teenagers. Through the formation of leadership teams, retreat weekends and various forms of follow-up, youth are given the opportunity to grow in personal faith and to express a corporate faith in witness and service to others.

T.E.C. is an expression of the desire of participating congregations to offer a culturally relevant, encouraging exposure to the journey of faith. Teenagers have the freedom to consider their commitment to Christ and His church in a loving way. Based on scripture, empowered by prayer, the T.E.C. community brings evangelism, revitalization, and discipleship into the lives of youth, spreading to their congregations, communities, and families.

Disclaimer:
Teens Encounter Christ is in no way, shape, or form a cult, secret society, or club. It is a weekend for 10-12 graders who want Christ to meet them right where they're at.

Candidates often hear things like, "It's a T.E.C. thing, I can't tell you," from friends who've been through the weekend already. The surprises (not secrets) throughout the weekend are there to make the weekend even more special for the candidates. If the candidates knew about these surprises ahead of time, some of the impact of the T.E.C. weekend would be lost.
